Travelling to Ninewells
We would encourage staff, patients and visitors to consider alternative ways of getting to the hospital such as using public transport, cycling, walking and arranging to be dropped off by a relative or friend. If it is essential that you travel by car, please leave adequate time to find a space prior to your appointment. For further information click here.
Note:
- Staff, patients and visitors can park here for free (stay restrictions apply in some car parks).
- Restricted bays remain in place, including Permit, Blue Badge, and Reserved bays.
- Vehicles must be fully parked within a designated parking bay.
- Parking on grass verges or double yellow lines is not permitted.
- The Parking Shop is open Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 18:00

Short-Stay Car Parking – 5, 6, 7, 10, 16 and 17
Patients and visitors parking at Ninewells must obtain a FREE ticket from the parking machines. The parking ticket must be displayed clearly in the front windscreen in all short-stay car parks: car parks 5, 6, A&E, East Block, car park 7 and car park 17.
Short-stay car parks are for patients and visitors only and have time limits of three or four hours and there is no return in the same period.
Long Stay Car Parking – Staff, patients and visitors – Car Parks 1, 2, 8 (MSCP), 9, 14 and 15
There is no change to parking arrangements for car parks across the wider Ninewells site. These remain as long-stay car parks and are free for all staff, patients, and visitors to use. There is no requirement for ‘collect and display’ tickets in these car parks.
The car parking facilities are available for outpatients, visitors and staff, on a daily basis, but please do not leave your car in any of the car parks overnight during your stay, unless you have prior agreement, from the Parking Shop located in Car Park 8 – the multi-storey car park.
There are a number of car parks around the Ninewells Hospital grounds, these are a mixture of both Collect and Display and Long Stay operated car parks.
Disabled Parking and Short-Stay - Car Park 7
Short-stay disabled parking bays located in car park 7 continue to be available beside the drop-off and pick-up areas. Blue Badge holders parking in the disabled bays will also have to clearly display a free parking ticket collected from the machine in addition to your Blue Badge.
There are 68 disabled parking bays available at Car Park 7, but a limited number of disabled bays can be found at most car parks around Ninewells Hospital.
Please note: The car parks are currently very busy. Maximum stay is four hours, no return after four hours. Spaces are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please make alternative arrangements if a valid parking space cannot be found.

Staff Parking Permit
Application and payment forms can be downloaded below. Please note, however, that we can’t accept copies, printouts, etc, but only hand-filled and signed documents. Please return the form to the Saba Park Office on Level 2 in the multi-storey car park.
Staff permits are required but are free of charge. Please ensure that you apply for a permit to avoid getting a Parking Charge Notice.
Permits are issued on the 1st working day of each month, and we require a £10 refundable deposit in cash.
There is currently a waiting list in place for some permit areas. For more information, please call our office on 01382 643 969.
The issue of staff permits and cards is subject to the availability of space and does not guarantee you a parking space. Permits must be displayed whenever a vehicle is parked in an on-site car park or permit bay.
