There are visitor, patient and staff parking available at Derriford Hospital, in the Bircham multi-storey car park, surface car parks and a designated disabled car park. Plus, we have a number of ways you can pay for parking – you can book before you arrive at the hospital by using the Saba Parking App – you can download it here and it’s available on both iOS and Android. Or you can use the Pay and Display or Pay on Exit system.

Disabled Blue Badge Users 
Car Park F, is the designated disabled car park, for all Disabled Blue Badge holders, there are some bays reserved for wheelchair users only. Disabled visitors have the first hour free after that standard car parking charges apply.
There are other disabled parking bays across the Derriford Hospital site, these spaces are free of charge, except within a barrier-controlled car park. Disabled Blue Badge Holders may use any non-disabled parking space, which is free of charge, up to a maximum of four hours. A fee is charged for all parking within a barrier-controlled car park irrespective of whether drivers have a disabled badge.
At Derriford, there is a Mobility and Welcome Centre located in Car Park F. Hospital patients can be dropped off and collected from this secure area and there is also a buggy service to transport patients to and from the hospital’s main entrance from this facility.
There are wheelchairs at the main entrance. A pound coin is needed to use a wheelchair and is refunded when the chair is returned. There are also volunteer guides available Monday to Friday from 10:00 – 17:00 located at the main reception to escort patients to their destination.
Facilities at Derriford Hospital 
Derriford Hospital has a number of shops and services available in the main hospital foyer on Level 6. The Reception Desk situated in the main reception area, they’ll be able to assist you with general information e.g. directions towards and departments and visiting times.
The Saba Parking Desk is located at the main entrance on level 6 and is for all enquiries relating to car parking.
Free Wi-Fi – all you need to do is connect to Wi-Fi SPARK (for the first time), simply search for any available Wi-Fi networks on your device, select ‘wifispark’ and click connect to automatically connect your browser to the registration page. Once registered your device should automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network where available. Signal strength may vary in certain parts of the hospital and during peak usage periods.
There is also a cash point machine, a café open 24 hours a day, every day and a small supermarket, stationery, fruit and flower shop, a bookshop and a pharmacy near to the main entrance. Close to the Bircham multi-storey car park, there are also a number of shops and a takeaway outlet.
Concessionary Tickets 
For those who need a little help with car parking costs, and who attend the hospital regularly there is a range of concessionary tickets and these can be for one or more vehicles, for more information please call: 01752 432 000 or go to Derriford Hospital’s main reception.
There is also free parking for some Groups of visitors and patients if you qualify under any of these groups below, please go to the Parking Desk in main reception to obtain your special parking permit.
Concessionary Ticket Groups include:
Resident parents of children in hospital or parents whose babies are being cared for in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Relatives of those patients who are critically ill. The critical care unit will contact the Parking Desk at the hospital’s main reception
Relatives of patients being cared for at the End of Life Care Pathway and those who are visiting the bereavement office or collecting a death certificate and members of the public donating blood.
Some patients in receipt of certain state benefits may be entitled to a refund of their parking costs and travel expenses. For further information please visit the Cashier’s Office on Level 7 of Derriford Hospital or call 01752 439805.
In addition to standard parking arrangements, if your stay is unexpectedly extended either due to clinics running late or unexpected hospital admission, then please ask the ward/department to contact Main Reception on ext. 32000 giving your car details and which car park you are parked in.
