Visiting Derriford Hospital?

There are visitor, patient and staff parking available at Derriford Hospital, in the Bircham multi-storey car park, surface car parks and a designated disabled car park. Plus, we have a number of ways you can pay for parking – you can book before you arrive at the hospital by using the Saba app. Or you can use the Pay and Display or Pay on Exit system.

Using the Pay and Display car parks, you’ll need to purchase a ticket and display this in your windscreen before heading off to your hospital appointment or to visit a friend or relative. The Pay on Exit option you enter the car park via the barrier and collect a yellow token. You’ll need to head to the Pay on Foot machines located on Level 6 of the main entrance or at the car parks to pay at the end of your visit, all the machines accept cash and credit or debit cards if you don’t have any change jingling in your pockets.

For those who need a little help with car parking costs, who attend the hospital on a regular basis there a range of concessionary tickets and these can be for one or more vehicles, for more information please call: 01752 432 000 or go to the Parking Desk at Derriford Hospital’s main reception.

There is also free parking for some Groups of visitors and patients if you qualify under any of these groups below, please go to the Parking Desk in main reception to obtain your special parking permit.

In addition to standard parking arrangements, if your stay is unexpectedly extended either due to clinics running late or an unexpected admission to hospital, then please ask the ward/department to contact the Parking Shop on ext. 32000 giving your car details and which car park you are parked in. The Parking Desk is located at the main entrance on level 6 and is for all enquiries relating to car parking.

Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS)

The PALS team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is a patient friendly, easy-to-access service designed to provide a personal contact to assist patients, relatives and carers.

We can offer you on-the-spot advice and information when you have queries or difficulties regarding our services or the care you have received. We will listen to your concerns and help you find ways of resolving them. We will also take note of what you tell us to help us improve the services for all of our patients.

We can also:
Provide information about hospital services.
Offer advice on how to obtain health information and guidance.
Assist with concerns that you haven’t been able to sort out with staff on a ward or in a department.
Listen to your views on how we can improve our services, and pass this on to the appropriate person for action.
Provide advice on how to make a formal complaint.
Provide advice on independent organisations that can help you with a complaint.
