Published 08/10/2024
There’s no shortage of fun to be had this October half-term in Canary Wharf.
With a host of free activities as well as paid-for attractions, you’ll find something to suit your pocket that all the family will love.
Eden Dock’s Nature Framed Photography Exhibition
This year saw the opening of Eden Dock – describe as an “urban oasis” in partnership with the Eden Project. With floating forests and aquatic habitats, the area encourages biodiversity and is a lovely place to discover. As part of Eden Dock, take the family to visit the Nature Framed Photography Exhibition, which runs every day until Friday, November 1, and is free to visit. From the tranquil waters of the docks to the leafy glades of the parks, the images showcase the variety of nature within Canary Wharf.
Urban Agriculture in Action at Wharf Farm
Head to Jubilee Place until November 1 to see the collaboration with Square Mile Farms showcasing micro-farming techniques, such as vertical farming, pesto-making workshops, mixology and cooking, with a focus on food education.
Canary Wharf Ice Rink
Opening just in time for half-term, on October 26, it’s time to get your skates on and enjoy this annual attraction, where the whole family can skate under the twinkling lights in Canada Square Park. Sessions are available for beginners, but it’s wise to book early as spaces fill quickly. Visit the website for more details.
Jubilee Park Playground
For some simple, wholesome fun, you can’t get much better than the playground at Jubilee Park. With a variety of fun-time staples like slides, swing and climbing frames, parents can relax with a coffee in the peaceful surroundings while the kids can burn off that half-term energy!
Canary Wharf Children’s Art Trail
The art trail is a hidden gem for those looking for a little adventure. Featuring outdoor sculptures and pieces of art around Canary Wharf, you can let the children explore the area while learning more about new artworks. It’s a self-guided adventure and you can download the trail for free HERE or visit the Canary Wharf Visitor Centre.
Museum of London Docklands:
During the October half-term, the Museum of London Docklands is inviting you to immerse yourself in the magic of old London with Victorian lamplighter storytelling sessions, and to discover the festival of lights with family-friendly Diwali stories. They are also hosting craft and dance workshops, with a London lights dance party for under-5s. Find out more on their website.
GoBoat Experience
For something a little bit different, rent a GoBoat at Canary Wharf for a unique half term adventure. These self-driving electric boats can fit up to eight people, and no boating experience is needed. It gives the opportunity to see the wharf from an entirely different viewpoint, as you navigate through its surrounding canals. It’s an eco-friendly way to spend time on the water, and kids will love the novelty of captaining their own boat.Find out more here.
Cinema at Everyman Canary Wharf
It’s England; it’s October. Let’s be honest, the weather might not play ball for half-term. If the weather turns rainy, head to the indoor sanctuary of Everyman Cinema to catch a film while sitting in luxe sofas. Check out the half-term screening schedule to plan ahead.
